Photography and Experimental Stitching

Today we had some experimental work, which I found rather beneficial and interesting. Using stitch as line we tested with various tapes, collages and threads to see what looked interesting or what seemed right. My card tested various and random methods, which I personally love. The use of stitch as line created some highly effective tests such as the first, using a consistent theme of black, white and blue. I love the geometry and shapes created using the tape, which contrast well with loose stitches forming the base of the works.

Here is a small update on last week's experimental photography. This particular picture grabbed my attention and attempted to create an aesthetic filter that I thought enhanced the image. I finalised a test that ended with this sepia-like colour, yet almost desaturated.

I also tried cropping the image to a square, which I think compositionally looks as/ even more effective.
