RENEW

Long story short, I left University to continue my practice on my own accord. (I'm much happier now I've left) On another note I've just moved into my new studio space! (It's light and airy)

'Interstellar'

On the 21st I went to the big screen to see 'Interstellar' and it I must say it's potentially my favourite movie I've ever seen (awesome cinematography, excellent script, fitting spine-chilling soundtrack from Hans Zimmer etc. I could go on) The visual depictions of universal features such as wormholes/black holes were particularly accurate, involving theoretical physicist Kip Thorne who was the scientific consultant. I really got lost in that 169 minutes, which is what reminded me of my artistic context, journeying into another dimension, travelling into the unknown, experiencing something unearthly. These depictions posed with clique cinema melodrama accompanied by Hans' soundtrack set an orchestrated 'moment' that captured my full attention and I felt I was involved with what was unfolding before me.

See below a clip from the movie what I like to simply call the 'wormhole scene' (Bad quality however).

(Happy New Year!)

"Impending Doom"

Scrolling through my social networking dashboard, I came across an image of a siren. This is something which in my mind 'connects the dots' to a strand of ideas I have reflected upon and perpetually scrutinized over the last few weeks. It visually relates to some of Kapoor's creations (See last few posts) and ultimately supports and explains my recent exploration of sound and the visual representation of a 'void'. Going to explore this in deeper context!

Paint

This week's paint workshop hasn't provided me with the spark and motivation that I felt in the previous workshops. (Although I did find how to texture acrylic paint using impasto and texture paste) This should hopefully help me to create a thick, viscous form that I have searching for!
