A Japanese Influence

Over these past few days I have a new found passion for Japanese/Chinese calligraphy. I am already a lover of East Asian culture, and this form of communication and writing really inspires me.

Out of all world languages, East Asian languages can bring, as I cannot read their varying languages. The varying ink viscosity, brush pressure and speed of movement all influence the shapes and lines that are created. Each in turn is beautiful to look at, in my eyes 'Art', as they have a typographic and illustrative element to them. I also personally look at Art from a psychological view, due to the relation of this subject and Zen. The act of creating the calligraphy is said to be enlightening and therapeutic; again something I love about this, to be able to clear one's mind of all thoughts, to see with clarity.

Below is a video demonstrating calligraphy skills on a large scale.
